The Association is pleased to introduce and welcome Mike Cornelius and Scott Roper as the newest additions to the NELMA inspection staff, both effective October 15.

Mike resides in Bellbrook, Ohio and will provide Export Wood Packaging and Heat Treatment inspection services to NELMA’s customers located in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and western Pennsylvania. The region was previously covered by Patrick Gilbert, who returned to his hometown of Jay, New York with his family on September 30 for personal reasons following seven months of high-quality service on behalf of the Association. Mike’s background includes almost 30 years as a civilian entomologist and biologist for the U.S. Air Force. As an expert and trouble-shooter, his work included a wide-range of projects during that portion of his career such as developing termite controls in Guam, monitoring endangered species in Tennessee, and coordinating rodent control in Egypt. He is a native of Nebraska and a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a degree in Entomology. We look forward to utilizing Mike’s expertise in wood-destroying pests as it pertains to NELMA’s Export Wood Packaging inspection program.

Domiciled in the northeastern Pennsylvania town of Benton, Scott will provide Export Wood Packaging and Heat Treatment inspection services to NELMA’s certified facilities located in eastern Pennsylvania, southern New York (including the New York City metropolitan area and Long Island), New Jersey, and Maryland. Scott fills the vacant position created with the promotion of Marc Moore as NELMA’s Director of Inspection Services in September. The relocation of the position to northeastern Pennsylvania increases the Association’s efficiency in providing service to customers in the Mid-Atlantic region. A graduate of Indiana University and the Kansas City Art Institute, Scott brings 25 years of experience in the construction business from his extensive work on theatrical sets, custom furniture and interiors. Past owner and founder of two businesses has provided Scott with an extensive knowledge of carpentry, materials, and quality control, in addition to strong organizational and communication skills that will enhance his abilities to perform the duties as a NELMA Inspector.

The hiring of Mike and Scott maintains the Association’s staffing level of eight Inspector positions, strategically positioned throughout the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast regions of the U.S. to meet the needs of our valued customers. Please join us in welcoming them to the NELMA “family”!
