NELMA’s marketing program continues to develop innovative promotions to get the attention of architects and designers with ideas on ways to use wood products produced by its lumber manufacturing membership.  The most recent activity comes in the form of a direct mail piece that intends to showcase how Eastern White Pine can be used in EVERY room of a home design.

It all began the first of December with the mailing of an 8 ½” x 11” “floorplan” and a ready-to-assemble “living room”, with a promise for more to come their way.   Made from high-quality paper with folding tabs, the final result of this hands-on activity is a completed miniature room block with photos on its top and four sides that displays Eastern White Pine’s diverse usage on walls, floors, and ceilings!   Placement of the block within the appropriate spot on the floorplan completes the construction process.

Thereafter, weekly mailings of the “bedroom”, “kitchen”, and “bathroom” were delivered to the 972 selected architects and design professionals on our mailing list that work in New England, New York, and Pennsylvania.   Our mainstay marketing messages of Eastern White Pine is Character Building and Eastern White Pine: Sustainable Versatility is prominently displayed throughout the mailer.   The project utilized the growing bank of high-resolution photography that NELMA has developed over the past few years.

To further the promotion, the entire project has been downloaded onto the easternwhitepine.org website for 24/7 access by others that may want to build their own Eastern White Pine house to display on their desk!   Additional floorplans and rooms are planned for the exclusive placement on the website for downloading.   Watch for details on how you too can build your very own island home, cape, or lake house….from the comforts of your desk!
