NELMA at Residential Design Convention

After a positive walk-thru review of last year’s Residential Design and Construction (RDC) Convention, NELMA exhibited for the first time at the 2007 event, held April 4 and 5 at Boston’s Seaport World Trade Center. The RDC is sponsored primarily by the Boston Society of Architects along with various New England architecture and design groups, and as the show name suggests, it focuses exclusively on the residential and design construction industry.
This year’s event attracted approximately 7,500 attendees, which included architects, contractors, engineers, interior designers, renovators and other professionals from throughout the New England region. NELMA was one of 258 exhibitors, utilizing its “She Loves Me, She Loves Me KNOT” exhibit to attract not only the Eastern White Pine (EWP) experienced, but also the curious and uninformed. Making it debut at the show was NELMA’s EWP Grade Reference “Swatch”, showcasing the 5 primary grades in a unique paint-swatch type packaging. In addition, the first issue of the “White Pine Monograph” was also available for this particular target audience.
According to Jeff Easterling, who was stationed with the exhibit for the 2-day show, “the ‘Swatch’ is a certain hit with the design community. The combination of the two offerings (Swatch and Monograph) received stellar reviews with numerous comments regarding the unexpected quality and promotional packaging not typically seen coming from a lumber trade association!”
