Dimension Grader Competition

A chance for member mill graders to meet and compete with peers in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. No pressures….just a good time. This fun yet educational event encourages graders to become better at their craft and sharpens their accuracy.
Skills are challenged as graders review and assign proper grades, within five minutes, to 50 stationary samples of dimension lumber – grades #1, #2, #3 and Economy. Members of the NELMA Inspection Staff review all boards used in the competition with the group following the competition. Winners are determined by the highest number of correct answers in the least amount of time. Time is used to break ties.
Cash Prizes are awarded to the top winners – the more entries, the larger the prizes! Mills with two or more grader entries have their scores entered in the separate Team Championship category as well. Awards will be presented following lunch. Top team (mill) winners receive the custom designed traveling “Bronze Hammer” plaque to proudly display at their mill until the next competition.
