NELMA to Celebrate 80th Anniversary at Annual Convention, April 4-5
The final arrangements have all been set and registration is now open for the 2013 NELMA Annual Convention, to be held April 4 & 5 at the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts. This year’s program incorporates NELMA’s signature interactive business sessions with a variety of informative and entertaining guest speakers scattered throughout the event. In addition, we’re celebrating an Association milestone, the 80th Anniversary of NELMA’s founding! Check out the full 2013 Convention brochure here, along with the Registration form and Sponsorship form. It all begins with the Opening Session at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4!
Our line-up of speakers begins at the Marketing Committee where Charles Trevor, the American Softwoods Program Coordinator for Europe/Middle East, will discuss the market conditions across the pond and potential opportunities for Northeastern lumber. Friday morning will include our program to recognize the winner of the 2nd annual Sustainable Versatility Design Award, featuring Robert Robillard, editor of “A Concord Carpenter” and a nationally recognized leader in the how-to information media. Check out his website to learn more about his current work and entertaining past.
For lunch entertainment we’ve brought in Howie Carr, a true Boston radio legend and well-known, opinionated New England talk radio celebrity. Howie has also written several books surrounding the notorious Boston organized crime leader, Whitey Bulger. Following lunch we will hear from Paul Jannke of Forest Economic Advisors, who will present important Economic and Lumber Market Forecast for the coming year and beyond.
And to top things off for the 2013 Convention, don’t miss Friday evening’s 80th Anniversary activities that have been planned to commemorate this important Association milestone. Dine, dance, and celebrate all that was, and is NELMA! The event includes the debut our new short video, Lumber & Sons, a very special feature on lumber mill families in the Northeast. Then it’s a night of music that will span the decades from the renowned band, Men in Black!
Boston will certainly be the place to be, and be seen on April 4 & 5! We hope to see you there!
