November is NELMA Trade Show Month!
November is typically the busiest trade show month for NELMA as two of the marketing programs target customer bases conduct major trade show events.
Beginning with the North American Wholesale Lumber Association’s (NAWLA) Trader’s Market, held November 7-9 in Chicago, NELMA was one of 245 exhibitors that entertained more than 1,300 lumber wholesalers and other industry-related individuals in attendance for the event. This was the highest registration for the Market in several years which may well signal a sense of some confidence in the marketplace beginning next year. This year’s Market included exhibits by six of the Association’s manufacturing members. As anticipated from previous participation experience, NELMA’s 2012 Buyer’s Guide was the biggest ‘seller” at the exhibit followed closely by the fabulously-famous Eastern White Pine grade “Swatch”.
Close on the heels of the Trader’s Market came the ABX Architecture Boston Expo (formerly Build Boston), held November 14-16 at the Boston Convention Center & Exposition Center. An estimated 16,500 building design professionals from throughout the northeastern U.S. attended the event that showcases everything for building construction including the kitchen sink. In an event where exhibits hawking wood products are rare, NELMA’s marketing goal is to expose these critical design professionals to the world of northeastern softwood products of using “locally” manufactured real-wood materials and how they may be utilized in their projects. NELMA’s “Patterns of Eastern White Pine” booklet, the grade “Swatch”, and the White Pine Monographs are the attention getters with this target group.
The next stop on NELMA’s trade show circuit will be at NRLA’s Lumber Expo, set for February 6-8, 2012 in Boston.
