Maine Landowners: Get Your Free Eastern White Pine Seedlings!

Want to plant some Eastern White Pine beauty in your own yard? Of course you do. These trees are beneficial for so many reasons, beyond the excellent and versatile lumber they produce when raised as commercial timber. They offer year-round shade, greenery and visual interest, host a wide variety of wildlife, smell amazing and can even be used for medicine and food.

For a limited time, Maine landowners can snag up to 20 free Eastern White Pine seedlings from Project Canopy, Maine’s urban community forestry program. Available only to Maine residents for use within the state, the free seedlings are offered during Maine’s Arbor Week to encourage greening up privately owned parcels of land.

To get yours, all you have to do is fill out and submit an order at the Project Canopy website by 5pm on Friday, June 25th. All requests will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis, and you’ll be picking them up in person at regional MFS offices during the first two weeks of July.
