Q2 Shipments of Lumber from NELMA Mills Continues Record Pace for 2018

The lumber shipment data provided by NELMA mills for the first 6 months of 2018 continues to outpace previous records for the same time period!  Overall data for the 3 categories (Eastern White Pine, Dimension, and Great Lakes) show total shipments of 795 million board feet through Quarter 2, some 2.8% ahead of the previous year’s record.  The Great Lakes mills led the way with a 4.7% increase from 2017, shipping a total of 278 billion board feet.  Dimension mills from the Northeast increased shipments by 3.8% with a total of 300.5 billion board feet.  Eastern White Pine shipments remained steady with the previous year, with 216.5 million board feet through June.  May of 2018 was a record month for the Northeast mills, totaling 93.3 million board feet, beating the previous monthly high set in October of 2017!
